CN Blue and FT Island held a successful joint concert in America.
The two bands came together in LA for a concert titled FT Island & CN Blue Stand Up by M-Live on March 9 (Local time). More than 5,000 fans gathered for the event, of which 80 percent were non-Korean fans.
CN Blue and FT Island filled the Nokia Theatre with their powerful vocals and performances. CN Blue started off the concert with its hits Intuition, I’m a Loner and Love, along with its Japanese singles and a variety of hard core rock pieces.
FT Island followed with its sad rock ballads Hello Hello, Love Love Love and Severely to set its own mood.
Lead vocalist Lee Hong Gi’s vocals were especially said to be the high point of the show.
“Many global performances have taken place [at the Nokia Theatre], but Lee Hong Gi’s vocals can be said to be one of the most impressive performances ever,” an official from the Theatre said.
FT Island then set the Theatre on fire with hard rock genre pieces such as I’ll Love Everything and Revolution, which had the members jumping up and down the stage in an explosion of passion.
Before the concert, FT Island fans had gathered in front of the Nokia Theatre early in an ocean of yellow flags, the symbol of FT Island. CN Blue fans didn’t fall behind in support with logo adorned placards and t-shirts.
Fans also seemed to have come from all over the world. They came from the Philippines, Spain, Italy, America, Mexico, Taiwan and even Germany. They agreed that they “love the bands’ music more than anything,” and prompted the bands to perform near them again.
The members of FT Island and CN Blue revealed how they felt about the LA concert the day before the actual concert in interviews with local media outlets.
“We’re excited about our first concert in America, but we’re also feeling laid back because we want to enjoy it. We want to take it step by step from the underground in America like we did in Japan. Because our music and our fans are the most important, whenever and wherever they call, we’ll be there,” FT Island said.
“Our goal is to top the Billboard Chart,” CN Blue said. “If we work hard, we believe it will be possible.”
According to their agency FNC Music, Vice President Susan Rosenbluth of AEG, a large American agency, came in herself to see the concert. AEG managed many concerts for top stars such as Bon Jovi, Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber, and it is said that its Vice President rarely visits a concert herself.
In a meeting she held with CJ E&M, she said, “I’m realizing how big K-Pop is becoming every day. The performance was a very satisfactory one that showed great stage directing and artist capability.”
FT Island will soon be starting off on its Japan concerts and Asia tour. CN Blue plans to release a new album near the end of the month.
